IT’S HARDER TO HATE UP-CLOSE

Co-created dramas for community and organizational healing. In a safe structured forum, members of different groups explore their conflictual points of view. You’ll learn the commonality of human experiences, and that differences arise from within us – not between us. Using I4P’s signature format of warm-up, act-out and create healing new endings, you’ll leave with insight and opportunities for growth.

WHO’S TAKING CARE OF YOU?

Mediators, aid workers, therapists and anyone working with vulnerable populations: You deserve relief, self-care and re-energizing too! Look at your strengths, shadows and conflicting internal messages – so you can be more effective, present and passionate in serving your clients. Feel more relaxed, connected and hopeful.

MAKING PEACE WITH THE PAST

Level 1 (Demo/lecture): Peace-builders are introduced to the concepts of action work, re-writing traumatic group histories, and group processing. This includes exercises and simulations.

Level 2 (Full-length training): Demonstrations of action work and how to use simulations, using stories generated by participants. Teaches basic tools for facilitating and integrating these concepts into peace-building and intercultural work, for activists, policy-makers, peace-builders and NPOs. Offers opportunities for self-processing.

MEDIATING CULTURAL CONFLICT

Level 1 (Intro): Timely for mediating the current racial violence and social/political chasms…Do you get the sense your clients are too busy listening to the voices in their head to even hear you?  What are the “voices” about? — They’re the values, viewpoints and cultural histories they carry with them. They’re repeating the messages clients have had drilled into them from their ethnic, religious, racial backgrounds.  Learn how important it is to help clients get these voices out of their head and talk back to them, before they‘re open to mediation. This interactive presentation includes warm-ups and demos.

Level 2 (Training): For mediators and decision-makers. Includes demonstrations of action work and simulations, using stories generated by participants. Teaches basic tools for facilitating and integrating these concepts into peace-building and intercultural work.
